The Associations

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust is not merely a grant giving body because a Churchill Fellowship is for life. The experience of the last 40 years and some 4000 Fellowships awarded, is that the impact of a Fellowship is enduring.

To keep Churchill Fellows in touch with the Trust and with one another, there are 13 regional Associations of Churchill Fellows (see 'Association Officers' below). Each Association, being an autonomous group of persons, is independent of the Trust with voting rights and procedures being a matter for each individual Association and, whereas the Trust is a Registered Charity (No.313952), the Associations are not. They are provided with limited financial support by the Trust as they play an important part in the Trust's annual publicity drive to announce the annual categories.

Thus the roles of the Associations can be summarised as follows:

  • To assist Churchill Fellows to stay in contact with the Trust and with each other.
  • To publicise the Trust and the annual categories.
  • To welcome new Fellows, and to assist them in preparing for their Fellowships by facilitating contact with previous Fellows.

The Associations hold a wide variety of social functions and gatherings around the country throughout the year.
