Education & Training

Cathy Bache

Cathy runs an outdoor nursery in Scotland and having established the programme 7 years previously felt the need to connect with other nature educators of children to exchange ideas and grow the project. Her Fellowship gave her the opportunity to do that in the USA, where she meet many like-minded practitioners. She is now back in Scotland, drawing on the inspiration she found Stateside.

Tristram Hooley

Tristram travelled to Canada to pick up ideas and inspiration from The Canadian Blueprint for Life/Work programme which represents a serious attempt to reimagine careers work for the modern world.

Jennifer Olley

Jennifer travelled to India and Nepal to research the use of business models in innovative sewing and designing initiatives in disadvantaged communities. She works with In the Making Glasgow which is setting up a sustainable cultural enterprise and community resource in one of the most socially deprived parts of the city. She hoped to draw on successful models for inspiration back home in Scotland.

Chris Gabbett

Chris Gabbett is an education adviser and went to Australia and Norway to research the specific pedagogical approaches that make the most difference to White Working Class (WWC) boys in the classroom. The educational attainment gap for WWC boys is very wide and Chris hopes to work towards closing this using his Fellowship research.

Jo McNamara

Jo undertook her Fellowship to enable her to understand how Canada manages to maintain a high level of recruitment and excellent retention of student therapy radiographers.
