Equality and Diversity

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (WCMT) believes that excellence is achieved through recognising the value and potential of every individual. Our aim is to increase opportunities for UK citizens to travel abroad and contribute to British society through global learning. This could not be achieved without embracing diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all eligible candidates, regardless of background, circumstances or protected characteristics. We strive to ensure the application process is accessible to all, and review our processes and guidelines regularly to reduce barriers to inclusion. WCMT staff support Fellows from award and throughout their planning, travels and report writing, responding to individual needs and ensuring our Fellows are able to achieve their full potential.

The Fellowship provides an opportunity for learning, growth and leadership. The breadth of subjects explored and the diversity of our Fellows is an integral part of the Fellowship’s strength. We respect the rights of individuals, including the right to hold different views and beliefs. However, we will not allow these differences to be manifested in a way that is hostile or degrading to others. We expect all our Fellows, staff, Advisory Council, Trustees, partners and suppliers to be committed to the principles of this statement.
