Background

The Fellowship

1993

Disability athletics
The Fellowship allowed Tanni to travel to Australia in order to research the athlete development pathway and coach education system used at that time.  She was based with a training group in Perth which was managed by Jenni Banks, widely regarded as one of the most successful coaches in the world.  Jenni worked with athletes from grass roots through to international level, and was also responsible for setting up many of the structures that helped Australia achieve great international success on the track and road. Jenni Banks was an integral part of the Paralympic structures for many years.

The Results

After returning from Australia, Tanni carried on competing internationally until 2007, but became very actively involved in Sports administration .  She subsequently joined the Sports Council for Wales, sitting on Elite Cymru, the panel that helped support young athletes through to national squads.  She also served on the Sport England Lottery Awards Panel, and the UK Sports Council.  She is actively involved in coaching, and one of her athletes qualified for the Beijing Paralympics.  Since retiring she has joined the Board of UK Athletics, and completed in 2009 a review of Anti-Doping for the sport.  She is also on the Board of Transport for London.
