Burglary: a Crime Scene Investigator's perspective

This report looks at burglary investigation from a Crime Scene Investigator’s (CSI’s) perspective. In recent years burglary has become a national priority in the UK and forms part of the Avon and Somerset Constabulary and the Police and Crime Commissioners primary objective, helping the members of our communities to feel safe in their home. By pushing the boundaries of the CSI ‘examination’ to ‘Investigation’ of the crime scene, using the skills and knowledge gained from training and experience it is hoped that overall improvements in performance can be achieved. By visiting various operational Police Units as well as research and scientific facilities in both Australia and New Zealand the author hoped to see how science is used in the fight against crime, with the aim of bringing back the learning to the UK so that it can be used in everyday policing.
