Papyrus for the People launch event and Stone Draggers (2018) performance

Join Churchill Fellow Laura Wilson for the launch of her where I will be presenting Stone Draggers (2018) a new performance commissioned by the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology.

Since September 2017, Wilson has been working with the museum curators, paper conservators and language specialists working on Papyrus for the People, an Arts Council funded project to make translations of ancient texts accessible and understandable to a wide audience for the first time. Wilson's new performance presented at Bloomsbury Theatre is inspired by these texts, many of which describe labour, craft people and every day human interaction.

The performance coincides with a new exhibition of ancient texts which reveals the role of women in ancient Egypt and their work outside the home. This is part of Papyrus for the People, an Arts Council funded project to make translations of ancient texts accessible and understandable to a wide audience for the first time.

Performances at 6.30pm and 8pm, please click here for more information and to book for either performance.
