RECORDINGS: An exhibition and publication launch

2017 Fellow Alpa Depani will launch an exhibition and publication showcasing findings from her Fellowship travels on Thursday 1 March 2018 at The Cass, London Metropolitan University.

During the summer of 2017, Alpa went to New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong to make a comparative study of community driven space in these cities, learning lessons for London.

Spending 10-12 days in each city, Alpa walked and looked, applying each day the same methods of recording.

This exhibition acknowledges that process of urban exploration and presents the resultant maps, sketches, writings, and sounds. The quick, but incisive, recordings are both representation and analysis, they build a narrative of each city’s cultural and physical relationships with its public realm.

A small publication collating drawings, photographs and writings from the cities as well as findings and recommendations will be available for purchase on the night.

The event is supported by WCMT and the British Council. WCMT Chief Executive Julia Weston and João Guarantani, Senior Programme Manager at the British Council's Architecture Design Fashion (ADF) department, will give short talks.

This event is free and open to the public, but you should register your place in advance here.

The exhibition will run until Friday 9 March 2018.
