Winston Churchill loved building with bricks so on the 16th September Fellows gathered at the Michelmersh Brick works for a two hour tour which included seeing the clay being excavated and moved into a production line that was a mix of modern applications and the hand-making operations that have been in place for hundreds of years. They were amazed.
Then lunch in The Bear and Ragged Staff a traditional English Pub. The Director general Jamie Balfour and his wife Carolyn joined us for a tour of Mottisfont Gardens where recent Travel Fellow Jonathan Bass, Head Gardener there, led them on a very informative tour. Everything was perfect including the weather.
