We were saddened to hear that Sir David Willcocks passed away on 17th September, at the age of 95.
Sir David was a member of our Advisory Council from 1980-1990, and Fellows still talk about him fondly.
Sir David CBE MC had an incredible career as a British choral conductor, organist, composer and music administrator.
He is particularly well known for his association with the Choir of King's College, Cambridge, which he directed from 1957 to 1974, making frequent broadcasts and recordings.
For the 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer, Sir David served as director of music. The event was watched by an estimated global TV audience of 750 million.
A memorial concert will be given by the choir of King's College Cambridge in King's chapel at 3.00pm on Sunday November 22nd.
Full details of the concert and how to obtain tickets (which are free) can be found at www.davidwillcocksmemorial.com.
