Restorative interventions in a probation setting
Much of the Restorative Practice detailed in this report demonstrated an inevitable overlap of benefits and services for victims, offenders and communities. I have chosen to summarise my findings regarding restorative practice and its application in the USA, in relation to Court and Diversion; Community Sentences and Community Involvement; Victims and Prison Release / Community Re-entry. Inevitably imprisonment sometimes has to occur but my study did not focus on this. From a restorative perspective anytime spent in prison is harmful to individuals, families and communities. Imprisonment normally increases releagues The report includes 19 recommendations for both PBNI and the N Ireland Justice system aimed at taking forward a range of restorative options to benefit victims , adult offenders and the community.
