Supporting clients to live when suicide is an option
I travelled to North America, to attend an International conference on Suicide Prevention and to meet and learn from other experts in this field. I met with clinicians, published authors and researchers who shared their knowledge and expertise with me. I recommend NHS Trusts should encourage the development of expertise in this field, we should build Zero suicide collaboratives, we need to assess skilfully using evidence based formats, allow time and build stronger relationships. Assessment of risk should be thorough. We must focus on means removal and target suicidal drivers in our care-plans, engaging the input of clients support networks.
