Fellows' collaborations: Veterans support
Fellows Marina Cantacuzino and Tony Wright now collaborate in veterans' support projects.
Marina Cantacuzino, Director of the Forgiveness Project, was encouraged to apply for a Fellowship by 2012 Fellow Tony Wright, who is CEO of veterans’ support charity Forward Assist. In 2014 they received some Awards for All funding to work together running the Forgiveness Project’s award-winning RESTORE rehabilitation programme for veterans.
They have now completed three workshop programmes and the response from participants has been universally positive. Tony Wright noted how the participants had made more progress in two days than he would normally expect to see happen in six months. One described his struggles with anger, bitterness, self-harm and attempted suicide and realised that courage for him was standing up in front of his peers and sharing his life story with them. Another man who took part in the first workshop felt so impacted by the work that he asked to become involved in the work of RESTORE and told his story at the next two pilot workshops as part of the RESTORE team.
