I am an independent family therapist in a GP practice in Hertfordshire. I was awarded a 2016 Fellowship to Canada and the US to research collaborative mental health care. I have a research interest in family/carer involvement in adult mental health care and treatment. I am interested in how collaborative integrated mental health services can be delivered in the UK. I consider they can offer improved client care, value for money and improve community health. To achieve this we need to listen to and understand all stakeholders in care, especially recipients and their families. Aspects of my research are identifying obstacles to involving family/carers, especially socio-economic, cultural and structural. Also how can the efficacy of family involvement be measured, and what role can family therapists can have in developing integrated care in primary care settings.
