I have a Social Anthropology PhD from St Andrews. I have spent many years in academic research - as a Research Fellow at Edinburgh and Manchester universities. After recently completing a diploma in Interior Design I have turned my attention to architecture and design. I am now a Senior Researcher at Foster + Partners. I study the relationships between people and buildings - and the methods we use to record, analyse, and interpret these relationships. I am particularly interested in exploring new knowledge practices, methods of visibility/visualisation, the relationship between digital technology and spatial imagination, and approaches to place-making. I have a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship to research the architectural and interior design of libraries in light of their changing role in society.
