Ian was born in 1965, the year of the death of Winston Churchill and the founding of the WCMT. Born the only son of a second generation farmer near Alnwick in Northumberland. Lee Moor Farm became a centre of innovation website www.leemoor.net the land was denuded of forestry so he planted 25Hectares of trees, including 27 species of native hardwood for a wood fired heating system - back in the year 2000. Ian also was a demonstration site for Inside UK Enterprise as well as Linking the Environment and Farming. He was also a Forestry Authority Centre of Excellence back in 1995. Ian has held Government governance roles in The Environment Agency, OFWAT, his local Regional Development Agency and now the Forestry Commission. Ian has also started several companies such as www.freshelement.co.uk as well as one in sustainability auditing as well as one designing and manufacturing biodegrade tree shelters.
