Fish and shellfish pathologists at Cefas. My interests expand to aquaculture and the dynamics between policy and industry. I was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2011 to travel to New Zealand and investigate how England can learn from a leader in sustainable marine aquaculture. The implementation of an industry strategy in New Zealand encouraged me to investigate their industry in particular. I was interested in how the strategy was conceived and how this might enable England to construct a similar strategy following the Defra Aquaculture Consultation Plan. I am also interested in the manner in which improved advice on environment, health, husbandry and disease can improve the placement and implementation of offshore shellfish farms thereby providing direct scientific support to a growing primary industry for England.
