I am a Childminding Development Worker for Torbay LA & am based within the Torbay Early Years Advisory Team. I have worked in Early Years for twenty years and am passionate about improving outcomes for children. As a Development Worker I am responsible for the creation, development and implementation of local projects that link early years providers and their children to local community partners, sourcing funding from Charities and Trusts to enable the projects to run. These projects are focused around intergenerational learning, bringing early years providers, especially Childminders, in to residential care homes to engage in activities with the residents. One such project was ‘Making Bridges with Music’ which was delivered in the summer of 2017 which had a huge impact upon the participants. My Fellowship highlighted the many benefits that come from intergenerational engagement and I am keen to replicate this within Torbay.
