A Serge Lourie
I was a fellow in 1989 and looked at urban renewal in the USA and France. I was, at the time of my travelling, chairman of Sanctuary Housing Association (now the largest registered social landlord in the country) and a local councillor in Richmond upon Thames. My fellowship had a great impact on my career and informed the way I subsequently fulfilled my responsibilities as Deputy Leader and then Leader of my local council. I retired in 2010 and now look after grandchildren on two days a week; am learning Russian and improving my French; run four days a week; and am a trustee of a number of charities as well as chairing the fundraising committee for Kingston Hospital Charities.
